Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION MALE Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 14 year old boy living with my family in Pontypridd. I really enjoy playing on my Xbox and PC with online gaming, and also love a wide variety of music. I can be quite shy when I first meet someone new, but if we have common interests I can become quite engaged and talkative. I have ASD and I am a wheelchair user due to my ongoing treatment for Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia. I also like spending my time drawing. I like having a structure to my day and I am quite observant and notice when something is not right and unexpected situations make me feel uncomfortable, in this situation I would need some positive reassurance that everything will be okay in a calm manner. PURPOSE OF JOB As I am currently undergoing Chemotherapy, my mum is looking for a PA to keep me company at home initially so we can build rapport so I can feel comfortable around someone new. Once I am comfortable with someone new, I would like to gain the confidence to go out into the community once my health improves. PLACE OF WORK At my home address in Pontypridd HOURS OF WORK There are 12 hours per month available which I would like to use flexibly as I have a lot of hospital appointments at the moment. An example could be 3 hours per week split over two days initially so we can build rapport. This can all be discussed at interview RATE OF PAY £10.00 per hour including double pay on bank holidays TASKS INVOLVED Playing Xbox with me or on my PC Helping me use the bathroom which include some personal care Keeping me company whilst my mum pops out Making sure I have some lunch which my mum would prepare before. Calming me down if I am starting to feel anxious or upset, I have a phobia of insects and flies. I have a PICC line in my arm that sometimes may need an additional plaster if it comes lose, this can also make me feel anxious Building rapport and talking to me about my interests TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Someone who has experience with ASD A male PA is required due to some personal care Someone with similar interests Someone who is calm and adaptable Someone who can be flexible with hours and days Someone who is friendly and approachable ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you. Thank you.
