Salary: NJC 12 – 17, starting at £22,571 (pro rata)
Holidays: 30 days plus Bank Holidays
Contracted hours: 22 hours per week

We wish to recruit an Independent Advocate to join our Independent Advocacy service in Gwent. This post will be offered on a home working basis. There will be regular travel throughout Gwent and occasionally to our head office in Pontypridd.

The successful applicant will need to be dynamic and self-motivated, work on their own initiative and be fiercely committed to the rights of disabled people and to the value of advocacy. You will be computer literate with a high standard of written and verbal communication. You will need to be prepared to undertake a QCF Level 4 Diploma in Independent Professional Advocacy, if you do not already have this qualification. You will be expected to work on this qualification in your own time, although you will also be given some time during your working week.

As an Independent Advocate you will be working with individuals to ensure their voices are heard in decisions that affect their care and support and ensuring their rights are upheld. The post holder must be confident in supporting and representing individual disabled people and carers in a variety of situations and in respect of diverse issues.

Dewis C.I.L. is an independent voluntary organisation with an integrated management committee of disabled and non-disabled people. We particularly encourage disabled people and people with direct experience of disability to apply. This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
