Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I’m a 77-year-old female who enjoys spending time with my pets, gardening in nice weather and watching western or action movies.

I have issues with my memory and confusion, suffer from depression and I’m recovering from a fall.  I need encouragement to be active, leave the house, but also reassurance when I become confused.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This job is essentially a job share with another PA

Mornings: supplying medication, encouragement to get up and dressed, make and eat breakfast etc. 

Evenings: supplying medication, and snacks, put to bed, reassurance if confused.

Middle of the day (30mins)- a short visit of 30mins to ensure not too confused, encourage mum to go out and walk the dog etc.

 

HOURS OF WORK

Tuesday and Thursday: 8.30-9.30am and 6.30-7.30pm

Mid-day: time could be variable as needed between 1100 and 1330,

Possibility for more hours at the weekends or on Fridays if interested.

Some Flexibility in the hours available.

RATES OF PAY 

£12.10 per hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

Mornings and evenings would be for help with medication, food, and self-care.

Afternoon visits would be mainly for socialising and reassurance, making snacks and drinks and preparing dinner. 

On certain occasions I may need some help going to doctor appointments in Barry.

Some light housework

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

I need someone reliable and punctual so I can keep to a routine, a person who is chatty and friendly is essential, some interest in animals and gardening would be good.  Must be happy to work in a home with animals, who might encourage me to go for a walk or to the shops.  Experience working with people with memory and confusion issues would be ideal but not essential.

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
