PM1605 Personal Assistant Please quote reference PM1605 on application, Apply Now JOB DESCRIPTION Part-Time Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 47 year old man with a complex learning disability. I also have cerebral palsy and use a wheelchair. I live with my parents in Gilfach Goch. I’m a friendly, sociable person who enjoys chatting to people and having company around me. I have a vast interest in sports, especially snooker, so it’s important that my PA can support me to attend sporting events. At home I have an extensive CD collection so it’s fair to say I love music and enjoy going out to see live bands. HOURS OF WORK 8 hours per weekend, over a Saturday and Sunday. On occasion you may be required to cover additional shifts during the week. RATES OF PAY £12.25 per hour TASKS WILL INCLUDE · Personal care assistance including showering and toileting, using hoist assistance to complete these tasks · I require constant supervision; ensuring my well-being and safety at all times · Transfers from wheelchair to recliner, and vice versa · Ensuring I maintain a good diet by supporting me to eat and drink · Supporting me to access activities such as cinema, going out for food, watching sports or live music · Using a hoist for all transfers and receiving training where appropriate TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED · You must have a confident and direct approach in communication · Be able to give reassurance and guidance when needed · Proactive in situations and be able to problem solve on your own initiative · Patience is essential · You must be able to use a hoist, and receive the appropriate training for manual handling · Car driver; someone who is able to drive a mobility car to take me to activities ABOUT THE JOB Although this is a part-time job, it will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The salary will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given (5.6 weeks pro rata). The post is subject to a probationary period and a DBS (Police) Check at no cost to you. You will have to supply 2 references, one of which should be able to comment on your work practices.
