Personal Assistant – Temporary sickness cover

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 29-year-old lady living with my parents and sister in the Abercynon area of RCT.  I have cerebral palsy since birth and use a wheelchair to get around as I am unable to walk at all. 

My hobbies are playing my Xbox or PlayStation 5, using the Internet, going out to the shops and going to watch Cardiff City play. I am a sociable person and enjoy being out meeting people. I have a friendly disposition and despite having some learning difficulties, I have no behavioural issues and am very easy to get along with. 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

My main PA is currently on sick leave. This job is temporary at the moment, with a possible view to offer some permanent hours at a later date.

HOURS OF WORK

There are 16 hours per week available.

Worked on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Flexibility is essential in case one of the days change on occasion.

RATE OF PAY

£13.15 per hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

  • Driving my adapted mobility car  to places of my choice (must be over 25 for insurance purposes)
  • Accompanying me to social outings  eg. Shopping centres or to participate in wheelchair tennis
  • Taking me watch football matches 
  • Assisting me with my wheelchair, pushing it when out and about
  • Helping me to transfer from my wheelchair into my car
  • Lifting my wheelchair in and out of my car
  • Some personal care support, using the toilet
  • Assisting me at food/meal times

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Dependable and arrive on time
  • Suitable age for car insurance purposes 
  • Someone who will be happy to work alongside the family
  • Cheerful, outgoing, energetic and likes to have fun
  • Someone who is confident, with a mature attitude and outlook
  • Someone who is flexible with the hours they work (very important as days and times may change)
  • You must respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home
  • Non-smoker preferred

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probationary period of 6 months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid 2 weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay.
