Part Time Personal Assistant

I am a young lady aged 30 with Downs Syndrome and Type 1 diabetes living with my parents in the Llantrisant area.

I am an outgoing person who likes swimming and ten pen bowling. I also enjoy all the girlie things such as shopping and going to beauty parlours.

I am looking to employ a personal assistant who is willing to support me to do these things and to also participate in some of the activities I enjoy.

I spend a lot of time in Barry so would like you to drive me back and forth if need be.

The main purpose of the job is to provide me with support while out in the community. This will help me to be independent and to participate in the activities I enjoy.

7 hours to be worked on Tuesday. You will pick me up from my home and take me to a class in Gartholwg Lifelong Learning Centre in Church Village. The class is 10AM to 3PM. The class only runs term time, but we be able to do other activities during the holidays.

£10.90 per hour

£0.40 per mile

  • Ensuring I am safe at all times.
  • Taking me out in your own car to places I enjoy going such as shopping and swimming.
  • Providing me with support to access leisure and entertainment facilities.

  • Preferably a person who has some of my activities in common.
  • Someone who is punctual and dependable, totally trustworthy and flexible.
  • Someone who can, if needed, be positive in dealing with me.
  • A cheerful person with a positive and bright outlook.
  • A person who will be caring and compassionate when dealing with me.
  • A car owner/driver willing to use their own vehicle on our journeys out (for which mileage will be paid, business class insurance must be in place).

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).

The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
