Casual Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 23 year old woman living in the Penarth area with my family. I communicate using PECS and an AAC device but I have started to use more and more words recently so am using these devices less. You will be able to understand me more and more over time. I am sociable, active, happy, independent and strong willed. I love musicals and watching videos on Youtube. I have an eclectic music taste and like anything from the Teletubbies to the Prodigy, from classical to pop. I love doing karaoke, even when I don’t know all of the words. I enjoy watching films, playing musical instruments and really enjoy relaxing. I like to be busy too and like kayaking, swimming, cycling on my tricycle, going to the theatre and having picnics.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

I am looking for a Personal Assistant who will support me to maintain my independence. I need someone who will support me both at home and in the community, assisting me to access activities and keeping me safe at all times.

HOURS OF WORK

There will 18 hours per week that need covering; these hours will be used between 9am-3pm on a Tuesday to attend Vision 21 and Wednesday to do activities.

RATES OF PAY

£10.10 per hour

  • Supervising me whilst I have a shower or bath to ensure I am safe
  • Preparing light meals for me
  • Accompanying me to the toilet, although I am able to self-care, I need assistance to ensure I have closed the door

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
