  Part-time Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a retired gentlemen who used to work as a geologist and likes geography and volcanoes. I was diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia in 2017, before this I used to enjoy travelling with my wife. In March 2021, I fell at my home and fractured my hip and as a result, it has affected my mobility and condition.

I am a sociable person who likes to meet new people and enjoys a good chat. I like to spend time doing crosswords, quizzes and watching sport on the television, I enjoy listening to the radio. I used to enjoy going for walks and if I recover my mobility this is something, I would like to do.

PURPOSE OF JOB

The Main purpose of this job is to provide me with support at home with personal care and hygiene. This will also provide some respite for my wife. If my mobility recovers then i would like someone who can take me on walks.

HOURS OF WORK

10 + hours available,

These will be used between 9 - 9:45 am to help me with showering/Personal Hygiene although this can be slightly flexible; I will also require someone to help me with my exercises during the day for one hour. (times can be discussed during interview)

RATES OF PAY

£10.00 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

Tasks may include assistance or support with the following:

  • Personal care
  • Dressing, undressing
  • Household duties
  • Cognitive stimulation through quizzes
  • chair exercises , to help me keep walking
  • Any other reasonable task

  • Car owner (business class insurance will be required if care plan changes and David goes out but initially not required as based ta David’s home ).
  • Happy around animals , family dog who is friendly
  • Experience of caring for people with Dementia personal or professional

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid four Monthly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
