 Part-time Personal Assistants

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

My name is Claire, and I am a mature lady in my 50’s who is affected by MS and now, uses a wheelchair fulltime. I live in Corntown in the Vale of Glamorgan with my partner, two cats and my Labrador, Molly. 

I love my garden, being outside and feeding, and watching the birds, hedgehogs, and foxes!  My independence is important to me

I currently have a PA to support me with social calls.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I am looking to employ Personal Assistants rather than using care agencies to better support my personal needs and to provide the choice and flexibility to meet those needs

HOURS OF WORK

  • 5 hours per week split into morning and evening calls.
  • Morning calls1.5 hrs Mon-Fri and 1 hr Sat-Sun start from approx. 8.30am
  • Evening calls 1 hr, no earlier than 8.30 pm

(Please include the shifts you can cover on the application form.  Suggested individual shifts 4 days one week and 3 the next am, pm, or both)

RATES OF PAY

£10.35 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

  • All transfers using standing hoist (e.g. from bed or sofa, to wheelchair, toilet or shower).
  • Personal care including dressing
  • Light domestic duties including ironing
  • Take the dog out to the garden or occasionally walks
  • Miscellaneous tasks such as filling bird feeders
  • Ensuring all mobility equipment is charged
  • Ensure I am safe at all times
  • MAKING COFFEE!!

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Someone with a mature attitude and similar interests.
  • Someone who is reliable and trustworthy (this is an important aspect of the job as I am totally reliant on others to start and finish my day)
  • Female due to personal care
  • Someone who is okay with a dog and cats in the house

ABOUT THE JOB

Although this is a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
