Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME I’m an 8 year old boy with a diagnosis of ASD, A statement of educational need, Learning disability and a diagnosis of biliary atresia. I have very limited speech mostly non-verbal. I can communicate some words but not many. I’m not using any other form of communication. I much prefer adult interaction, and watching videos on a phone. I dislike socialising with peers. I enjoy outdoor play/activities with my ABA tutor, privately funded direct payment worker, mum and dad or siblings. I also enjoy going to soft play, trampolining and going to the local supermarket. I like to have a daily routine and can become distressed if there is a disruption to this. I can display challenging behaviours such as screaming, self-harm, biting, punching and smearing. I will display these behaviours when I am in a phase of regression or anxious. I can display destructive behaviour at home also. I am supported through applied behaviour analysis. I have a good appetite but I prefer to eat home cooked meals instead of eating snacks throughout the day. I don’t have awareness of road safety, general environmental/household risks, or stranger danger. Purpose of Job: To support me out in the community, promote my living skills and to ensure my parents know I am safe while they spend time as a couple. HOURS OF WORK 2 hours per week during term-time 4 hours per week during school holidays RATE OF PAY £11.00 Per Hour and 0.40p a mile. TASKS CAN INCLUDE Support me out in my local community. Promote my independence Promote my living skills Support with seizures when required to. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Patient, kind and friendly. Energetic, outgoing and easy to get along with. Has knowledge and understanding seizures. Prefer full UK drivers licence (NOT ESSENTIAL) ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probationary period of 6 months will be necessary in the first instance. I will be your employer. The wage will be paid 4 weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This job is subject to a DBS check at no expense to you.
