VOG862 Personal Assistant Please quote reference VOG862 on application, Apply Now JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a one hundred and two year old lady living in the Barry area and have been diagnosed with vascular dementia. I am very fit and social for my age and am looking for help to get out and about during the days. I do have a walking stick to help me get around but I would rather walk unaided if possible. I am also hard of hearing but cannot manage my hearing aids. I used to enjoy arts and crafts and some dancing but no longer do these activities and am just looking for a PA to take me out into the community. PURPOSE OF THE JOB To help me get out of my flat and into the community and doing things I enjoy. Also to help give my son some respite. HOURS OF WORK There are 3 hours per week available. This will be worked on a Wednesday between 1:30pm and 4:30pm. RATES OF PAY £12.00 per hour TASKS CAN INCLUDE · Travelling to local landmarks and going out on little trips, Cold Knapp, Cosmeston lakes or Penarth Headland for example. · Taking me shopping in places such as Marks and Spencer and having a wander around the local high street. · Potentially some personal care if I have another fall or if my health deteriorates. · Doing some activities in my home when the weather is not great and helping me around the home TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED · Somebody familiar with the requirements of someone diagnosed with dementia. · Someone who will be reliable and punctual. · Someone who is chatty and social. · A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home. · A driver with business class insurance. · Someone who will allow me to hold onto them while walking around when outside. · Female preferred due to potential of personal care. ABOUT THE JOB This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
