I suffered a spinal cord injury in June 2014 which resulted in a C4/C5 injury. The injury has left me tetraplegic and using a wheelchair. I have reasonable upper body movement. I need assistance to help with everyday tasks people take for granted. PURPOSE OF THE JOB The purpose of the job is to help me to maintain my independence. HOURS OF WORK My hours are worked on a rota. I have between 20-30 hours available each week RATES OF PAY meets NMW TASKS CAN INCLUDE Personal hygiene / toileting/ continence management Dressing and undressing Help with transfers and mobility problems Help with showering and washing Preparing/cooking and clearing of meals Housekeeping/ light cleaning/changing bed Shopping Laundry To maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care plan. To document shifts in a daily diary sheet, document any relevant information to be passed on to other members of staff. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED A person who respects my privacy and confidentiality of working in my house Patient and understanding A person with a friendly, easy going manner Someone aged 21 and over A car driver, with a good record Adaptable and able to respond to changing needs Experience of working with spinal injured people desirable A person with a good sense of humour Flexible ABOUT THE JOB This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.
