JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 63 year old woman living in the Hirwaun area of RCT. I describe myself as a ‘happy-go-lucky’ person and feel I can chat to anyone. I enjoy the company of others. I like music especially Motown and Soul. I enjoy watching comedy films and lifestyle programmes. I used to really like doing craft-y things but am not able to do them anymore. I have MS and am a wheelchair user. I am a smoker so whoever works with me will need to be comfortable with this. I am not able to weight bear so need to use a hoist.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I am looking for a Personal Assistant who can assist me to maintain my independence at home and cover my other PA when they are on leave or sick.

HOURS OF WORK

I have 4 hours per week available. These will be worked as one hour shifts.

RATES OF PAY

£12.00 per hour.

TASKS INVOLVED

· Helping me to get dressed

· Make or change bed

· Light housework (making sure dishes are done, put away, laundry etc.)

· Helping me to shower

· On non-shower days, assisting with a full body wash

· Hoisting me into my shower chair, wheelchair and back into bed

· Feed my dog and let her out

· Make me a cup of coffee, topping up my hot water machine

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

· Female due to personal care

· Car driver would be desirable because of timings

· Must like animals

· Experience not essential as I can teach you

· Someone who lives locally would be ideal

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).

The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
