JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 22 year old man living in the Rhydyfelin area with my mother. I have a diagnosis of downs syndrome. I can be very stubborn at times and am quite set in my ways. However, I am also very loving and love to go outside and enjoy doing some gardening.

I also enjoy doing activities such as taekwondo, bowling in Nantgarw, attending drama class and going to the community centre.

It may take a while for me to get along with and to fully trust my PA but I can engage well once I get to know someone and am comfortable with them.

I have recently had some issues with my eyesight deteriorating and I am due to have surgery to help stop this worsening.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Mainly to help me access the community and take part in various social activities and to help me gain independence and interact with people outside of my family.

Could also be some personal care if required or just some encouragement and reminders to undertake hygiene tasks.

HOURS OF WORK

There might be more hours available in the future.

·        40p per mile for when you take me out in your car.

·        Encouraging me to undertake morning tasks, washing, dressing in appropriate clothing etc.

·        Taking some extra care with me and being mindful due to my eyesight.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

·        A car driver with business class insurance.

·        Someone who is patient and willing to take time to get to know me and allow me to feel comfortable around them.

·        A trustworthy person.

·        Someone who is reliable and consistent.

·        Someone committed to the job as changing PAs will be hard for me.

·       A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.
