JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a mature female living in the Thornhill area of Cardiff.

I live at home with my husband and dog, I have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. I don’t really have any hobbies as I worked full time and brought up our son. I like having a tidy home and enjoyed doing household chores. Due to my diagnosis I do less of what I enjoy such as eating out, going for walks and having coffee & cake with friends.

PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide companionship when my husband goes shopping and to also provide respite for him as he is my full time carer.

I get anxious and agitated when he leaves if I am alone, but knowing I have someone there with me will reduce this and give me great peace of mind.

To ensure I am safe at all times.

PLACE OF WORK

In my home and out in my community.

Most of the job will be in our home but it would be beneficial if there are opportunities for her to be accompanied on walks in the local community.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

-      Previous experience of dealing with someone with Alzheimer’s disease (Young onset dementia).
