I have a diagnosis of ASD. I enjoy weekly visits varying from Swimming, Trampoline, the Park, Mc Donald’s, etc. I enjoy spending time with my personal assistant who I look to as a mentor to assist with building friendships / social skills to assist with my ongoing development. My vocabulary has developed over the last few years and my speech also and I am able to communicate my needs effectively and am able to learn basic repetitive social conversation. I am able to be flexible within routines but can get anxious if not aware of what happens next / finish. I have many more likes and am open to trying and experiencing new things and have few dislikes. PURPOSE OF JOB My parents are looking to employ someone on a permanent basis PLACE OF WORK Collecting me from home and taking me to my preferred activities to help promote my independence. HOURS OF WORK 3 hours 45 mins per week Afterschool/ weekends / Daytime during school holidays RATE OF PAY £13.00 an hour Mileage is included where applicable. TASKS INVOLVED Social activities- bowling, swimming, going out for food Collecting me from my home address in your car Accompanying and supporting me with my chosen activity. Supporting/prompting me when getting dressed. Ensuring my safety and well-being at all times. Encouraging and praising me in order to build my confidence. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED A driver will be essential, with business class insurance. Experience of working with autism / children with additional needs would be an advantage Someone who is able to stay calm and be patient when I am trying to communicate something Someone who will engage with me and bring me out of my shell Someone who will be able to work flexibly and will also be reliable ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.
