JOB DESCRIPTION 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a disabled lady living in the Barry area of the Vale of Glamorgan with my 2 grown up children.  I use a wheelchair for inside and outside my home due to my disability. I am a friendly, laidback person who needs a Personal Assistant to increase my independence and to keep my home clean and tidy. I enjoy a good chat, but can take a little while to get to know people as I am quite shy. My interests are computers, using the internet, watching TV and swimming.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I need a Personal Assistant to help me with domestic support, personal care and social visits from time to time. 

HOURS OF WORK

There are 4 hours a week available which will be worked flexibly Monday to Thursday. The days can be mutually agreed at interview. 

I am also looking for a PA to cover my main PA while she is on maternity. This will come into effect in the summer. There will then be 15 hours per available. 

RATE OF PAY

£12.20 per hour on weekdays

£13.20 per hour on weekends

TASKS INVOLVED

Personal Care

  • To assist with showering/bathing when needed
  • To assist with dressing when needed

Domestic

  • To undertake all household tasks thoroughly
  • Laundry and changing the bed regularly
  • Some meal preparation at time 

Social

  • Social outings as decided by employer
  • Any other duties to be discussed and mutually agreed between yourself and your employer

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

·      Someone who enjoys doing domestic tasks.

·      A person with a friendly, easy-going manner

·      Must like dogs and cats

·      Someone who will be able to support me but not take over

·      Able to work independently and on their own initiative to previously agreed criteria

·      Able to work to instruction

·      Someone trustworthy, reliable and punctual

·      Someone with a caring and responsible attitude

·      Be willing to undertake any training identified as relating to the post e.g. Manual Handling Course, Basic First Aid

·      Someone who will be able to provide sickness and annual leave cover

·      Car owner/driver who can fit my wheelchair in their car

·      Someone who will wear a face mask during shifts

APPLICATION FORM

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of six months probationary period. A DBS (CRB) will be needed to be completed; the costs will be met by the employer.  The wage will be paid 4 weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.
