JOB DESCRIPTION

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 67 year old woman living in Barry. I used to work in the civil service and my hobbies included horse riding, show jumping and other outdoor sport pursuits. 

I have an active social life and also enjoy to go out shopping and I attend many groups during the week to socialise with others.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The job will include social aspects and some personal care and domestic help. 

The social aspect will include transporting me to the groups and clubs I attend and potentially taking me food shopping.

Personal care will include help with showering and dressing in the mornings.

The domestic tasks will include food preparation, getting my medication ready for me to take and maybe some light housework.

HOURS OF WORK

I have 13 hours per week available and this will be split into different calls.

I would require a morning call every day at around 8:30/9am (flexibility with the times here) seven days per week. This would be roughly 30 minutes.

An afternoon/evening call which would last an hour seven days per week.

And then a few hours left over each week for a food shop or to help me get back and forth to my social activities. Flexibility is there with these hours.

RATES OF PAY 

£12.20 per hour

Double time on bank holidays

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

·         Food preparation and prompting medication.

·         Assisting with morning routine. This can include dressing and showering.

·         Providing me with some company in the house.

·         Transporting me around the local community and to the groups I attend.

·         Help with food shopping.

·         Helping me get out of the house and potentially going for a walk locally.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

·         A car driver with business class insurance is essential.

·         A female due to the personal care required.

·         A chatty and outgoing person.

·         A reliable and punctual person.

·         A kind and friendly person.

·         Someone who uses initiative and has a bit of a get up and go attitude.

·         A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
