A Little About Me

I am a woman in my 60s living in the Barry. I have limited mobility and use a wheelchair and walker. I enjoy craft work and sewing on the machine. I like to visit the theatre and the church.

Purpose of the Role

I am seeking PAs who can support me within the home and take me out for car journeys and local trips. There are two positions, one permanent hours and one casual PA position.

Hours of Work

There are two positions:

  • Permanent: 16 hours per week
    • 8 hours on weekdays
    • 8 hours on weekends
  • Relief/Casual: Up to 36 hours per week, mainly covering sickness and leave.

Rate of Pay

  • £14.00 per hour weekdays
  • £15.00 per hour weekends

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing personal care.
  • Helping with household tasks such as cleaning and laundry.
  • Preparing meals and drinks.
  • Providing companionship and social support.
  • Taking the employer shopping, to church, the theatre, and other outings.
  • Driving either your own car (with business insurance) or the employer's mobility vehicle.
  • Ensuring the employer's safety and comfort at all times.

Person Specification

The successful applicant will be:

  • Patient, caring, and understanding.
  • Flexible and easy-going.
  • A confident driver with either:
  • Your own car and business-use insurance, or
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to drive the employer's vehicle.
  • Over 25 years old if driving the employer's vehicle (insurance requirement).

About the job

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
