A Little About Me

I am a man in my late 40s living in the Gelli area with my mother. My mother is my main carer day to day. I have a learning disability, and I’ve recently had an operation to treat blood cancer. I’ve had a Personal Assistant for around 15 years and he’s recently retired, he used to take me out on Wednesday, and I am now seeking a replacement PA.

Purpose of the Role

I am seeking a PA who can take me out for car journeys and local trips. This will also provide my mother with some respite.

Hours of Work

• 6 hours per week {flexible, can be worked in one or two shifts and flexible with the days}

Rate of Pay

• £14.85 per hour plus mileage for journeys we take in the car together

Duties and Responsibilities

• Taking me out in the car
• Social stimulation and companionship
• Any other practical tasks as time allows
• Ensuring my safety at all times

Person Specification

The successful applicant will be:

• Patient and understanding
• Calm and reliable
• Car driver/owner with business class insurance
• Comfortable spending significant time driving

About the job

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid two weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
