Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I worked as a healthcare support worker in metal health for older persons at Llandough hospital for the last 18 months and 6 months at the Heath also with the elderly. I worked for 2 separate service users as a PA for approximately 2 years. I provided respite, personal care, shopping and light domestic duties. Prior to that I worked as a carer for Allied Healthcare for just over 4 years.
What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): All Wales manual handling training QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care
How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I have in excess of 7 years experience working in the healthcare sector. I believe in treating people with respect and kindness. It’s also important to promote independence by encouraging the service user to do things for themselves. I believe in building relationships so that both parties get to know and trust each other. By doing this you get to know how the service user wants things done.
What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I enjoy getting to know people and make a difference in their lives
What are your hobbies/interests?: I enjoy going for walks, reading, socialising with family and friends as well as watching rugby.
