I have worked in the care industry for the last 12 years , cared in the community visiting the elderly in their own homes attending to personnel care medication assisting with all personnel needs, I then worked up until 4th May this year in a dementia care home permanent nights for last 10years for rct council until they decommissioned the home, I am a very caring person who has compassion for my job on all I do and very much want to be of any help to the person or persons I am taking care of ., I left school without qualifications went on to have 4 children them started work when they were of school age , I have recently done my E learning online which I have the certificates for


What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): 

sensitivity and understanding of the persons needs, empathy is very important,Being reliable is vital when the person who is waiting for you to arrive has needs that will affect their dignity and health if they aren’t addressed.A carer should always be respectful of their customer and where they live. Person centre skills Your carer may have had a stroke or live with another condition that takes them lot longer at speaking or even slower in all the do .


How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): 

Encourage the person one to make decisions and actively involve them in decision-making. Trust and build a support network with them, Be positive and celebrate small improvements. Make learning a daily habit for both of you. Be patient.


What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): 

making a positive difference in their lives. I have always been interested in work that involves helping others and making a positive impact. I enjoy being an active member of my community and helping people. Even if that means just being there for company not for the person to feel alone
