Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

 

My name is Kitty, and although I am 25 years old, I look and behave much younger and I still love toys, especially my Teddy bear, Rufus. I am very chatty and enjoy a giggle, and I love music, dancing, animals, all pink girly things, as well as going out for coffee. I need help with someone to take me to my club-college SEND Academy, and to assist with activities, medication and going for a walk and a coffee afterwards. I have well-managed type 1 diabetes, Prader-Willi Syndrome and focal seizures.

 

 

PURPOSE OF JOB

I need support with accessing my activities within the community.

 

PLACE OF WORK

Home is Pontcanna which is the main base for collections and drop offs, and Dad’s house in Peterston-S-Ely with SEND Academy either in the Heath or Trehafod.

 

HOURS OF WORK

Typically, 9.30am – 4.30pm, days TBC.

In the first instance we are looking for one day per week (depending on your availability, either Mon., Tues., or Thurs.) with the potential to increase up to three days from September or summer 2024.

RATE OF PAY

£12.75 p/h with additional goodwill payments for petrol costs.

TASKS INVOLVED

 

●   Collect and drive me to SEND Academy

●   Assist with activities and medication

●   Remain alert to general safety (and road safety)

●   Go out for walks and let me buy you a coffee/tea

 

 

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

Essential qualities

●   Full driving licence

●   Reliable

●   Ability to assist with medication with a willingness to understand diabetes and check blood sugar levels (training available)

●   Capable of remaining watchful for safety throughout the day

●   Flexible, adaptable and have initiative

●   Ability to remain relaxed and calm if I get frustrated

●   Caring and trustworthy

 

 

ABOUT THE JOB

 

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A probation period will be necessary in the first instance.  Wages will be paid 4 weekly.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
