Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

 

I am a young female adult living in the Rumney area of Cardiff.

I live at home with my parents and my dog (you won’t see him as he will be out of the room).

I enjoy arts and crafts and I’m hoping to return to college soon.

I am paralysed from my chest down but I can move my arms and hands, this is limited due to my condition. The condition can improve and I am hoping to recover my ability to walk and move given the right circumstances and treatment. I require two Pa's to provide all of my care needs in partnership with myself, I will need encouragement to participate in as much as I am able to.

 

PURPOSE OF JOB

• To ensure I am safe and comfortable at all times.
• Promote my independence.
• Maintain high standards of personal hygiene.

 

PLACE OF WORK

 

In my home and out in the community.

 

HOURS OF WORK

There are 66 hours available split between a team of PA’s, due to calls needing to be double handed.

 

For example, 2 Pas to work 33 hours each week alongside each other.

 

I am looking for a small team of PA’s to share hours, cover sickness and holidays also.

 

RATE OF PAY

£12.60 PER HOUR.

 

TASKS INVOLVED

• Meals will be provided by my family but I will need assistance with feeding myself.
• All aspects of personal care.
• Take part in any hobbies or activities that I am interested in.
• Changing bedding.
• Escorting me out into the community.
• Braiding my hair.

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

• Manual handling training will be required.
• Medication training will be required.
• Car driver essential.
• Kind and patient.
• Bubbly and chatty.
• Someone who can use their own initiative.

 

ABOUT THE JOB

 

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A probation period will be necessary in the first instance.  Wages will be paid 4 weekly.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
