Part-time Personal Assistant 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 42 year old woman living in the Church Village area. I have a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). I care for my 8 year old son who is a wheelchair user, but only when out in the community, otherwise he is active and mobile. My daughter is 6 and awaiting a diagnosis for Autism. 

I would like a PA to act as a second pair of hands around the house. 

PURPOSE OF JOB

I value my independence very much so only need a PA to assist me as and when I ask. 

HOURS OF WORK

10 hours per week, evening and weekend work is required

RATES OF PAY

£12.00 p/h

Plus 40p mileage allowance

TASKS INVOLVED

·          Being a second pair of hands to support me and my children, as and when requested

·          Occupying the children with playtime until food is ready, then taking the meals into the lounge and ensuring the meal is eaten without distraction

·          Regularly going on social outings

·          Assisting me to straighten my hair if I’m going out

·          Any other reasonable task

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

·          Someone who can follow instructions and fulfil the task as required but only when requested

·          You mustn’t want to take over, rather allow me to maintain my independence and only step in if I ask

·          This job might be demanding at times

·          Work well under pressure

·          Reliable and punctual

·          Flexibility to alternate between my needs and my son’s needs, as required

·          Respect for confidentiality and working in the home

·          Car driver/owner is essential

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
