I am able however, to live on my own but have regular support from my father who lives nearby. I volunteer 3 days a week ay a local community drop-in centre. I love football – I’m a Cardiff City supporter and watch almost all the games at the stadium. My dad takes me to the games, so my PA won’t have to support with this. I really enjoy spending time on my own – I’m not a ‘shopping, fashion, or make-up’ type of girl. I would like to get more involved in activities like aqua aerobics and dance class. PURPOSE OF THE JOB You will support me on my independence journey. HOURS OF WORK 5 hours per week, to be used flexibly RATES OF PAY £15.50 per hour 40p mileage when you use your car TASKS WILL INCLUDE Support with food shopping, focusing on buying healthy nutritious food to prepare at home Assisting me with healthy meal prep so that I don’t rely on take-aways You must be able to cook and know your way around a kitchen General assistance around the house – light housework Support and reassurance with mental well-being – helping me overcome anxiety inducing obstacles Helping me identify and access activities in my area like aqua aerobics, cinema, discos, day trips, dance class – participating where appropriate Encourage me to further develop healthy living skills – eating well, exercising etc TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Good and confident communication skills Someone with similar interests so you can participate in some/most of the activities I’m interested in You’ll be able to lead and initiate conversations, actively keeping me engaged You must understand it will take me some time to trust you and build a relationship – please be patient whilst this happens Be able to give reassurance and guidance when needed A sensible and mature person with life experience A car owner/driver who is willing to use car for work purposes/take me on outings ABOUT THE JOB This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority. All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins. Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period. Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
