Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): Current employment: 1:1 teaching assistant St Paul’s C.I.W Primary school, Cardiff. Volunteer: Caring for an elderly neighbour I am currently a 1:1 teaching assistant for a child with autism and cerebral palsy. This role requires patience, empathy and a caring nature. My duties also include daily stretches and exercises with the child as set out in his IDP and supporting his learning to enable him to reach his full potential. I also support an elderly neighbour voluntarily. I do her shopping, help with cleaning and cooking meals for her and often just sit and have a chat and a cup of tea to keep her company. I believe these experiences will enable me to really excel in this position.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): I think being caring, patient, empathetic, reliable and compassionate are important qualities as well as being able to use own initiative at times.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I am a kind, caring and compassionate person and I understand how important it is supporting people with disabilities and additional needs. I’ve worked as a 1:1 teaching assistant for over 10 years as well as nursing family members with terminal illnesses in recent years. I am naturally a nurturing person and believe as well as being able to support this individual with general daily tasks I will be an ear to listen and offer companionship too.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): PA work appeals to me as I find it to be a meaningful and rewarding job and the ability to make a small difference in someone’s life give me great job satisfactory. I am naturally a caring person who enjoys helping others.

What are your hobbies/interests? (required): I love spending time with family and friends, especially my 3 children. I thoroughly enjoy reading and going for long walks.

What days/nights are you able to work, or prefer to work?  (required): Monday and Tuesday evenings. Wednesday afternoon/evening. Thursday and Friday- day/evening

Are there any circumstances which would prevent you from providing cover or swapping a shift? (required): Yes

Please provide details if necessary: I do have a current DBS which is on an annual renewal through the school I currently work in but I am not sure if it is portable.
