JOB DESCRIPTION

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I’m an older lady of 92 living in Llantrisant. I’m a private person who enjoys my own company. I enjoy a happy and quiet life, enjoying knitting and watching TV. I have a good sense of humour and can chat about anything and everything, although I can be forgetful at times so need gentle reminding about certain things.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

You will provide a sitting service in my home which will enable my daughters, my main carers, to have some respite.

HOURS OF WORK

6.5 hours per week

Hours will be worked early evenings approx. 5.30pm – 7pm over a few evenings each week.

Hours can be discussed in more detail at the interview.

RATES OF PAY

£12.50 per hour

TASKS WILL INCLUDE

· You will ensure my well-being and safety when with me

· Engaging me in conversation

· Giving me a ready-made meal for my tea, for example a pre-made sandwich

· Enjoying a cup of tea with me at home, ensuring my fluid intake is sufficient

· Securely locking my house when leaving shift

· Very rarely supporting me to get ready for bed, changing into night clothes

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

· A mature, sensible person who is likely to share my interests is preferred

· Someone easy to talk to and engage with; you’ll be able to hold a conversation but at the same time respect my quiet time if I choose to sit quietly watching TV

· Be able to give reassurance and guidance when needed

· Proactive in situations and be able to problem solve on your own initiative

· Patience is essential

· Be ok with my cat in the house

ABOUT THE JOB

Although this is a part-time job, it will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The salary will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given (5.6 weeks pro rata).

The post is subject to a probationary period and a DBS (Police) Check at no cost to you. You will have to supply 2 references, one of which should be able to comment on your work practices.
