Personal Assistant

SOMETHING ABOUT ME                        

 I am a 73 year old gentleman with moderate dementia, living on my own in a bungalow in Cowbridge. I have a care package in place from the local authority, but as my family doesn’t live near, I need some support to get about and about and some company at home. I am fully mobile and don’t need any help with walking or personal tasks. I really enjoy walking and visiting local places of interest.

In and around the area of Cowbridge and at my home

 PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 I am looking for a PA, to join my existing carers, to provide me with some friendly company at the weekends and to take me out to local places - such as the seaside, and to accompany me on walks from my house.

 HOURS OF WORK

3 hours on each of Saturday and Sunday afternoons with probably more hours available casually, (job share considered)

 RATE OF PAY

£10.75 an hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

 Driving me in your car to local places.

• Taking me out for a walk and maybe a visit to a cafe.
• Being a caring companion by keeping me company when at home and making a cup of tea/ coffee.
• Doing some ‘pottering’ in the garden occasionally. (Nothing heavy!)

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

 

• A driver with access to their own vehicle and a clean driving license will be essential.
• A friendly person who is caring, considerate and patient and preferably with experience of assisting someone with dementia.
• Someone who is reliable, punctual and can use their initiative.

 

 

ABOUT THE JOB

 Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
