Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a retired teacher who enjoys travel, railways, football, cricket and exploring new places. I have visited 87 countries and have always enjoyed being active and adventurous. Following a serious illness, I have lost several fingers and toes, which affects my mobility and dexterity. I use a Zimmer frame and am at risk of falls. I no longer drive and would like support to access the community and continue enjoying my interests. PURPOSE OF JOB I am looking for a Personal Assistant to support me in getting out and about, reducing isolation and helping me remain connected to my local community. The role is centred around companionship, community access and supporting me to enjoy activities that interest me. PLACE OF WORK Travelling to Cardiff and surrounding areas HOURS OF WORK 6 hours per week (weekday mornings, starting at 9:00am. No weekends and not Fridays) RATE OF PAY £12.71 per hour plus mileage allowance TASKS INVOLVED Access the local community and attend social activities Visit railway stations and watch trains, particularly in Cardiff and surrounding areas Attend local places of interest and community groups Visit the post office and complete local errands Accompany me to watch sporting events or activities of interest where appropriate Provide encouragement and companionship during outings Ensure my safety whilst mobilising in the community Support me to maintain social connections and reduce feelings of isolation TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Friendly, reliable and trustworthy Proactive and able to suggest ideas for outings and activities Patient and understanding A confident driver with access to a suitable vehicle Comfortable supporting someone with mobility difficulties Interested in travel, railways, football, cricket or similar hobbies Able to build a positive and professional working relationship ABOUT THE JOB This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority. All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins. Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period. Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
