 I am currently self-employed, providing therapeutic music and movement sessions to Care homes and Day centres. For over 8 years in Wiltshire, Ive brought joy to residents and vulnerable adults. Now based in St Athan, I continue this work locally. This role has given me extensive experience with those suffering from dementia and other cognitive or physical conditions. I also worked for Age UK during the pandemic as a Community meals driver, delivering meals to vulnerable older adults, often being their only contact for the day. Following that, I became a Support Worker, assisting with shopping, cleaning, social visits, or companionship. As a former primary school teacher, I have transferable skills such as empathy, patience, organization, collaboration, and advocacy, which align well with being a PA to someone with dementia.

 
What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required):

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required):

With my support worker experience, I aim to empower individuals to be as independent as possible while ensuring their safety. Tasks should be manageable, so I break them down into smaller steps. My teaching background helps me differentiate tasks appropriately. I encourage participation in community activities to reduce isolation.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required):

 PA work allows me to connect with individuals and build meaningful relationships. Its rewarding to enhance someones quality of life, offers variety, and is flexible around my schedule.

What are your hobbies/interests? (required):

 Music is my passion, whether singing, playing piano, or dancing. Ive recently started rock n roll classes. I enjoy nature, especially coastal walks with my West Highland Terrier.
