I am currently private caring for a lovely lady and have been with her for the past 3 years. Alongside the up keep of the house, I go through bills with her, I help her food prep and shop, I help her with her medication and collecting the meds and sorting them out into pots, I help with the care of her dog, and I also help her with important phone calls and anything that she either can’t do, or isn’t comfortable doing.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): 

Making them feel like they aren’t any less capable than someone else. I don’t like to view certain things as they need assistant in doing them, I like to view it more as they would like a friend to do these things with. Trust is a huge quality and I also believe friendship is too.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): 

I love to help. And I am also good at it. I’m a really friendly person I’m also a fun person.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): 

For me not isn’t about working set hours 9-3 ect, it’s about being able to be available whenever wherever I am needed with just 1 one phone call and that I can do.

What are your hobbies/interests? (required): 

My hobbies are pool and darts. I’m in the VOG pool and darts leaugue. My interests are doing things with my daughter like beach days movie nights and game nights.

I work for another lady, I’ve been with her 3 years but she is fully flexible with me, so I am deffinatly able to take on more work. The only factor to consider is I do have a 4 year old daughter. She is in full time school but I have a great family unit around me that help with school runs or child care whilst I work.
