Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job	My current role consists of me working alongside carers to give all our residents the most fulfilling final years of their lives. In my current role I use skills such as good communication, social skills, safeguarding skills and empathy, to help me base my activities through a person centred daily programme, which are inclusive to their own physical, mental, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual needs. I also multi task and assess situations daily I can then react quickly to change activities in developing situations when needed. My previous employment roles have helped me gain transferable skills such as good communication, building relationships, willingness to meet the needs of individuals and self-motivated. Which I believe would further support me in this new role.
What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person?	I believe that there are many qualities that are important when working with a disabled person. Safeguarding being one of the most important. Flexibility is also key to help support the disabled individual along with good interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to be personal yet professional and being responsible, reliable and respectful of the disabled individual. As well as qualities such as encourage and commitment to equality and diversity and understanding the challenges that are faced by disabled people. Also, the willing to learn and having the passion to maintain hobbies and interests of each individual, while enjoy helping people, I recognise are important qualities when working as a personal assistant.
How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person?	I have learnt from previous job roles that I really enjoy helping people, I would like to continue to be actively involved with helping promote independence to live their life in the way that they choose. I can enable others to make real changes to their lives as I have the patience and previous skills mentioned. I will support the disabled individual to allow them to be more confident and help them to contribute to their own decision making, while safe guarding them. I can help them to access opportunities to physical, social, economic and positivity in their overall wellbeing and independence.
What is it about PA work which appeals to you?	I currently enjoy the role of enhancing the lives of individuals I currently work with, I’m in but believe I can further my skills and fulfil my career goal an area of work I thoroughly enjoy. The reward of seeing individuals smiling, enjoying, making their own decisions and living their lives to the fullest also makes me feel content. The idea that I can help in embracing skills, widening their interests and having new experiences with individuals, interests me and the fact that I can be a part of building the kind of supporting relationships that can change someone’s life, is amazing.
What are your hobbies/interests?	My hobbies and interests are varied as some days I enjoy walking up mountains, such as pen y van with my dirty walking boots. Other days I enjoy afternoon teas, lunches out, spa days, shopping and coffee catch-ups with friends. I also love animals and visiting new places.
