Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

 

I am a young man with Clark-Bariaster syndrome, a genetic disorder which causes me to have learning disabilities, speech and language difficulties and sensory processing disorder. I live in the St Fagan’s area of Cardiff. I would like a PA to support me with weekly activities in the community. I like to attend rebounding therapy, swimming and going to the cinema.

 

 

PURPOSE OF JOB

 

I need someone to support me to access activities in the community.

HOURS OF WORK

 

6 hours a week during term times. (All school holidays will generally be paid holiday; however, flexibility may be required at times. This can be discussed further at interview)

 

Days and times required are – Sunday, 5.30pm to 7.30pm, Monday, 6pm to 8pm and Thursday, 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

 

There is, however, the possibility of further hours if the candidate is interested, these can be discussed further at interview.

 

 

RATE OF PAY

 

£12.60 per hour

 

 

TASKS INVOLVED

 

Keeping me safe by supporting me and enabling me to access activities in the local community, advocating for me and being a friend who enjoys my company.

 

 

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

 

·        Essential - to be patient and reliable.

·        Essential - owner driver.

·         To adhere to confidentiality.

·         Able to build a relationship with me.

·         Someone who has a good sense of humour and is fun!

 

ABOUT THE JOB

 

Required to drive me and accompany me to rebounding therapy (trampolining) once a week and swimming twice a week.

There is no requirement for you to be in the swimming pool with me, but please just stay on the side of the pool to encourage me and to help keep me safe.

 

Days and times required are – Sunday, 5.30pm to 7.30pm, Monday, 6pm to 8pm and Thursday, 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

 

All car mileage is paid every 4 weeks.

 

There is, however, the possibility of further hours if the candidate is interested, these can be discussed further at interview.

 

 The post is subject to satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK before you start work. Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.
