CDP2184 Personal Assistant to Child Quote ref: CDP2184 on application form Apply now Closing date-31/05/2024 JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a young female living in the Llanishen area of Cardiff. I have severe learning difficulties resulting in limited speech. I understand what is being said to me but I often need time to think and respond. I usually speak using one or two words but can use simple sentences with prompts. I can be shy with new people but become more confident as I get to know someone. I love music and dancing, as well as arts & crafting activities. I also like to go shopping and I enjoy a visit to Costa Coffee! PURPOSE OF JOB To help me access activities and to also promote my independence. PLACE OF WORK Out in the community. HOURS OF WORK 6 Hours per week during term time. Mon 3.15-6.15pm (flexible - could be moved to another day) Thurs 3.15pm-7.15pm (required due to dance class) 9 Hours per week during the school holidays – 3x3 hour shifts. RATE OF PAY £12.85 per hour. TASKS INVOLVED On Mondays I usually go to the gym and then swimming at the Village Hotel in Coryton. As I have a membership there, my PA can access the facilities with me. On Thursdays I attend a dance class in Barry YMCA. I will need to go for food and then on to Dance class at 5.30pm. I will need to be picked up from school and then taken back to my home in Llanishen at the end of the shift. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED I would like someone who is confident to attend a gym and to assist me with using the gym equipment, such as the cross trainer, treadmill and weight machines. I would also like my PA to attend the swimming pool with me as this is something I particularly enjoy doing. Knowledge of Makaton would be beneficial – I can speak but I know quite a lot of Makaton. A car driver and owner is essential. ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
