JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a teenager living with my family in the Grangetown area of Cardiff. I have learning difficulties as I have Down’s syndrome, and looking for someone to support me with activities I like. I don’t have speak however, can make myself understood in other ways. I enjoy cycling, swimming, walking and going to the cinema. It is essential to employ a female due to my personal care needs. I have a fear of animals of all kinds especially cats and dogs.

I need someone to support me to access activities in my local community.

HOURS OF WORK

2 x 3 hour sessions per week on a Wednesday between 3pm – 6pm (straight from school) and a Sunday 9.30 am – 12.30 lunchtime.

RATE OF PAY

£12.60 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

· Keeping me safe by supporting me, enabling me to access activities in the local community. I need a PA to join me in the swimming pool.

· Being patient when I am attempting activities.

· Assisting me with personal care needs.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

· To be reliable and a good communicator, liaising with the family

· To enjoy attending activities

· To adhere to confidentiality

· It is essential to employ a female due to my personal care needs.

· Owner driver is desirable.

ABOUT THE JOB

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK before you start work. Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.
