I have Down syndrome and live in Whitchurch Cardiff with my mummy, daddy and younger brother who is 8 years old.I like swimming, dancing, colouring, playing doctors/vet, going to the park, playing games and am currently learning to ride a two wheeled bike at the moment. PURPOSE OF JOB I finish school at 2.30pm and would need someone to meet me at my home when I am dropped off from Whitchurch High School. In term time holidays I also have time out so my brother can do some activities that I am not able to do as I get easily tired; long bike rides, walks up hills… PLACE OF WORKI live in the Whitchurch area of Cardiff. Travel away from normal place of work may be required on occasions. HOURS OF WORK I need someone for a Wednesday one day a week, 2.30pm-5.30pm in term time. They would need to be able to drive as I go to a Rubicon dance class on Wednesdays where I meet my mummy (I am currently supported 3 days a week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 2.30pm-5.30pm in school term time). RATE OF PAY £12.50 an hour. TASKS INVOLVED -Have fun and play with me.-Keep me active although I can get very tired after school especially if near the school holidays.-Help me with tasks if they become too difficult.-Take me to meet my mummy at Rubicon dance lessons.-Keep me safe as I do not realise some of the dangers around me; crossing the road, trusting strangers, predicating danger before it happens.-Clear simple instructions on what we may do together. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED -A happy fun loving person-Reliable/Punctual-Considerate/Caring/Trustworthy-A female as Ava would have someone else to talk to about emotional/personal issues or may need, on very rare occasions, help with a personal care issue. Car driver is essential. ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
