I have also worked with children with moderate learning difficulties, social emotional and mental health needs or autism spectrum disorder. I have studied Education, Psychology and special educational needs for the past 3 years at Cardiff metropolitan university. I am also currently working as a learning support assistant in a additional learning needs school. I have also cared for my 11 year old nephew which has autism spectrum disorder which has enabled me to gain a further insight into child development and learning.What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): The ability to work on your own initiative. Good listening and communication skills. Flexibility and time management. Good interpersonal skills to work with someone on a one to one basis.How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I believe I could contribute towards the needs and independence of a disabled person through promoting their personal empowerment. Not only helping them build the tools to be more independent, but to also improve their self-esteem and confidence.What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I am an individual that loves working with children and supporting their individual development and lifelong learning to help them thrive.
