I live in Abercynon with my mum. I’m non-verbal but learning to communicate by using a book to show what I require, for example food or a drink. I am hyper-sensory meaning I seek stimulation from jumping off wardrobes or grinding my teeth. Another example is having my hair bobble as tight as possible in my hair. I need constant supervision and tend to run off, hence the 2:1 support. I enjoy the park, soft-play, swimming. PURPOSE OF JOB To give my mum some respite for from her demanding care role. Working alongside a second PA. HOURS OF WORK 8 hours per week term-time and 12 hours per week school holidays. Worked over about 3 days, including a weekend. RATES OF PAY £16.00 per hour Mileage of 40p per mile TASKS INVOLVED Support me to positively engage through play Help develop social and communication skills Engaging with activities that meet my sensory needs Personal care/assisting with the toilet when out and about Reminding me to use the toilet as I can sometimes be inconsistent with using it Undergoing any training associated with the role TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Someone who is understanding of my needs, ideally have experience working with Autism and ADHD Fit enough to keep up with me and help me burn off excess energy A person who is consistent in their approach to childcare You must be reliable, caring and friendly Respect for confidentiality and working in the home Someone who can easily and willingly take instruction from my mum how to care for me Ability to work alongside a second PA, co-ordinate time and activities and communicate appropriately with them ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence.
