It is essential to respect the preferences and individual needs of the person. Maintain and promote the person’s privacy and dignity at all times. Ensuring the persons safety is maintained at all times. I believe in open communication and being honest with the person as you would anyone else. Listening to what the person wants and respecting their decisions. Building a trusting relationship with the person to allow for the best standard of care to be achieved as if there is no rapport this would be impossible to achieve. Having a sense of humour and being inclusive.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I have approximately 10 years of care experience and I have worked with individuals with varying physical/mental conditions, including cerebral palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, anxiety, depression, bipolar affective disorder, and many more. I am very kind and non-judgemental, providing a compassionate approach when working. I feel I am very enthusiastic and outgoing, enjoying motivating and encouraging people to achieve their potential and have fun. I am flexible working evenings and weekends and will always notify in advance when needing time off (for example, booking holiday time to visit family). I am an easy going person and have a range of topics I find interesting which I feel helps me to connect with people.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I enjoy the 1:1 aspect of PA work, getting to know a person and their individual needs to ensure the best quality of care is provided. PA work I feel is rewarding and allows a rapport to be built over a long term period of care/support.
