Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I’ve worked as a day support worker and have over 7 years of experience as a domiciliary care worker and in as an elderly residential care worker. During this time, I’ve gained experience supporting people with various needs, including personal care, dressing, food preparation, and household tasks. I am particularly passionate about working with individuals who have dementia and Alzheimers, as I understand the importance of offering consistent, compassionate care that promotes dignity and independence. I’m experienced in supporting individuals with memory loss, confusion, and cognitive challenges, and I take the time to adapt my approach to their needs, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and engaged in their daily lives.


What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): Respect is the most important quality when supporting anyone, but especially those with dementia or Alzheimers, as these conditions can significantly impact a person’s sense of identity and independence. In addition to respect, I believe patience, empathy, and compassion are essential, especially when supporting someone who may struggle with memory loss or confusion. Understanding the unique challenges associated with dementia and Alzheimer’s—such as the fluctuating levels of cognition, disorientation, and emotional shifts—helps me provide person-centered care. How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): In my current role, I support a variety of individuals, including those with learning disabilities, neurodivergent conditions, and cognitive impairments. I have specific experience supporting people with vascular dementia and Alzheimers, where I focus on encouraging the person to maintain as much independence as possible, while providing the support needed to ensure safety and comfort. I help with everyday tasks such as meal preparation, personal care, and light household chores, while fostering a sense of autonomy. I also use memory aids and structured routines to provide a sense of continuity and security, which are vital for individuals with memory-related conditions. My goal is to create an environment where the person feels valued, respected, and capable, while always remaining attentive to their changing needs.


What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): PA work appeals to me because I get to build meaningful relationships with people. I enjoy getting to know someone on a personal level and understanding their needs, which means I can offer better, more tailored support. I find it really rewarding when the people I work with feel more confident and empowered because of the support I provide.


What are your hobbies/interests? (required): Outside of work, I enjoy walking, crafting, and going to gym classes. I also love spending time with my one-year-old son. These activities help me stay active and balanced, and I enjoy connecting with others who have similar interests. Whether it’s chatting about hobbies or getting out for a walk, I find it’s a great way to build rapport and keep things light-hearted while providing support.

These hours are fixed and cannot be changed. I also have weekend commitments, so I may not be available to cover shifts during that time.
