(required): I am a qualified Youth and Community worker and have 20 years experience working with children and young people, initially with my local youth services then onto work with children and young people with mental health issues with the charity MIND and I am currently working as a relief advocate for children and young people in care. I am fun, approachable and I treat all young people with respect and as an individual regardless of their background or abilities. I have a good knowledge of safeguarding protocols and confidentiality. What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): Being non judgemental, adaptable, fun, sensitive to the needs of other people and caring. Its also really important to be reliable and consistent so that you can build confidence and trust with the person. How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I have had to take a step from my own career as my own child is autistic and non verbal. My professional background as a youth worker will contribute, however more-so my own personal lived in experience. I dont know how it feels to be disabled but I know how I want my child to be treated and I would not treat anyone any less than by my own expectations (which are only the very best) I would hold that person in the highest regard and with the utmost respect at all times. What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): As above I have a an emotional personal reason for applying and also I need a job that will fit around my own family life whist giving something back to the community. What are your hobbies/interests? (required): Walking, animals, music, films, books, crafts, animals, shopping, hair/beauty, nature and being outdoors.
