Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I commenced my employment with Dewis in 2013 I have worked with clients with various needs including dementia, brain injury, Parkinson`s and Huntingdon`s. This involved helping around the house as required and helping them live in the community by assisting with appointments , going to coffee shops and taking them on outings that are of interest to themselves and ensure that they are able to interact and mix socially.
What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): I like to provide a high level of care to my clients which promotes their independence. I am patient, understanding, self motivated and able to adapt to each clients individual needs.
How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): Each person has their own individual needs so it is important to keep them safe and always listen to them without presuming to know what they may need and what help they need at different times, but also to step in at times and suggest how I may help them if I think it may help that particular situation. its important that they feel listened to and part of their community ,so I like to be able to take them on outings of their choice to enable them to keep up with any hobbies or interests they may have.
What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I find it very rewarding helping people live the best lives that their condition enables them to do. I have met some amazing people and I`m always interested to chat about their lives and experiences which I find people like to share.
What are your hobbies/interests? (required): I enjoy swimming, dog walking( I have 5 dogs),cooking and watching movies.
