It is essential to treat the individual with dignity at all times and to support them in a way that respects their choices, independence and privacy. Good communication and listening skills are also very important, as everyone’s needs are different and can change from day to day. By working at their pace and adapting support depending on how they are feeling, I can help them feel comfortable, confident and respected. I would also aim to provide practical support with everyday tasks such as personal care, meals and household activities in a way that promotes dignity and maintains independence.
