Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I am a 19-year-old student currently studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University. I have over two years of experience working in hospitality, where I developed strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills in fast-paced environments. Alongside my studies and work experience, I also help care for my 85-year-old grandmother, whom I have spent most of my life with. This role has given me a strong sense of responsibility, patience, and empathy, as well as an understanding of the importance of reliability, trust, and respectful support. Balancing my academic commitments, work, and caring responsibilities has helped me become an organised individual

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): When working as a personal assistant with a disabled person, it is important to be respectful, patient, and reliable. Good communication skills are essential in order to understand individual needs, preferences, and routines. Trustworthiness and professionalism are also key, as the role involves supporting someone’s independence while maintaining their dignity and privacy. Being flexible, attentive, and willing to learn helps ensure the best possible support and a positive working relationship.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I can contribute to the needs and independence of a disabled person by providing reliable and respectful support while encouraging them to do as much as they can for themselves. I am patient, attentive, and willing to learn their individual routines and preferences, which allows me to assist in a way that promotes confidence and self-reliance. I aim to create a positive and safe environment where they feel valued and supported in their daily life

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I am drawn to personal assistant work because it allows me to make a real difference in someone’s daily life. I enjoy helping others, supporting their independence, and building a trusting, positive relationship. The role also appeals to me because it combines responsibility, care, and practical problem-solving, which I find very rewarding.

What are your hobbies/interests? (required): In my free time, I enjoy reading, which allows me to learn new things and explore different perspectives. I also have a passion for film and music, as I love discovering new stories, sounds, and creative ideas that inspire me. I have a great love for animals and enjoy spending time caring for and learning about them, which has taught me patience and empathy. I am also a very chatty and sociable person, and I enjoy meeting new people and building friendly, positive connections
