What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): I believe the most critical qualities of a personal assistant are empathy, active listening ,patience and reliability. working with a disabled person requires understanding their perspective without making assumptions about their capabilities or preferences. Additionally , adaptability is important as needs and daily routines can shift. A good personal assistant must possess strong professional boundaries combined with a warm ,respectful demeanor , ensuring the individual always feels safe, respected and fully in control of their own life.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): My focus is always on enabling independence rather than fostering dependency. I can contribute by actively supporting the individual to carry out tasks with them, rather than simply doing things for them, wherever possible. By taking the time to understand their specific goals, routines, and preferences, I can provide seamless physical or administrative support that removes barriers. Whether it is assisting with daily living, facilitating social outings, or managing schedules, my aim is to act as a reliable resource that empowers them to live life on their own terms.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): What appeals to me most about PA work is the opportunity to make a tangible, positive difference in someone’s day-to-day life on a one-to-one basis. Unlike broader care roles, being a PA allows for the building of a meaningful, consistent working relationship built on trust and mutual respect.
