Casual Personal Assistant Required – Tonypandy

 

A Little About Me

Cover needed for a week from the 26th of June and then for at least 12 weeks (date to be determined)

I am a woman in my early 50s living in the Tonypandy area with my mother. My mother is my main carer day to day. I am a happy person and easy to get along with. I am unable to walk so I use a wheelchair and I have a learning disability. I am out in the community 4 out of the 5 days, I tend to be in on a Wednesday. I attend the Community Centre in Gilfach. I have a main carer, but I am looking for a casual PA to cover holidays and an upcoming operation that my PA be having, where she will be off for at least 12 weeks. 

Purpose of the Role

I am seeking a PA to provide person-centred support both at home and within the community, promoting independence, wellbeing, and safety at all times.

Hours of Work

The regular Personal Assistant normally works 32 hours per week. However, there is currently a temporary increase in support hours, bringing the total to approximately 40 hours per week.

Rate of Pay

  • £14.90

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with getting in and out of bed.
  • Provide supervision and support during showering.
  • Assist with dressing and personal grooming, including hair care.
  • Support with transfers using a chairlift.
  • Accompany and assist with wheelchair mobility.
  • Drive and accompany the individual in their vehicle for community outings and appointments.
  • Provide social interaction, companionship, and emotional support.
  • Carry out additional practical tasks as required.
  • Ensure the individual's health, safety, and wellbeing are maintained at all times.

  • Calm, dependable, and trustworthy.
  • In possession of a full, clean driving licence.
  • Female Personal Assistant due to personal care.
  • Able to provide safe and respectful support while promoting dignity and independence.

About the job

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
