What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): I think important qualities are to show respect, and patience. A PA must have empathy, and consider a persons dignity is maintained at all times. Confidentiality is vital. I work in a way that suits the individual I am working with, in the style that suits them, and at the speed that suits the person. I use safe practices at all time. I think good communication between the PA and the person they are working with, and their families if appropriate, is essential. It is important to remember, when working in someones house, to show respect for their home, and any other family members that may live there. Reliability and punctuality is extremely important.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I can bring all the experience I have gained in 20 years of employment within the care and support environment. Having a disabled, younger brother has given me life experience that I can bring to the role. I have experience of working with people with a very wide range of needs and requirements. I believe I am patient, and understanding, and am keen to help people. I am reliable and punctual. I am a positive and proactive person.
