Personal Assistant Application Form Submission

Where did you hear about our PA vacancies? (required): Dewis CIL Website
I confirm that I have the right to work in the UK and am able to prove my eligibility status when required to do so. (required): Yes
Please read the Job Description carefully before providing information in this Section of the Application Form. Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): My previous experience has been in the hospitality and insurance industries. I am looking for a job where I can look after people and make them smile. This is what drew me to hospitality initially. I enjoyed meeting customers, being aware of, and responsitive to, their individual needs, whether that might be a person living with disabilities, children or the elderly. I did not need to act differently with any customers, only to be concientious of their individual wants and needs, and that is what I enjoyed.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): I believe that first and foremost safety and responsibility. Looking after anyone is an important job and I would want the persons mother/father/brothers/sisters to know that they are in safe hands and they can take comfort in this. Aside from that, it is most important to be kind and caring, putting their needs ahead of your own. This also includes being respectful of their emotions and desires, making sure that their independence is nurtured. Finally, I think a personal assistant to a disabled person should be friendly, fun and enthusiastic. They need a sense of humour and an outgoing nature. They should take an interest in their likes and dislikes, and ultimately be able to build a friendship as they spend time together.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): Firstly, I think I would be a great help around the house, supporting their own personal needs. I uinderstand well that down syndrome is not a one size fits all (or any disability for that matter). Personal care has to be tailored to the individual and their own specific experience of the disability. However, I am a great cook and I am organised and good at cleaning, so these are skills which I can definitely contribute. I am more than happy to contibute to any shopping or personal care as neccessary, whilst maintaing the dignity and independence of a disabled person. Aside from this, I am a great listener and have a calm demeanor, so I would hope to be approachable if their are any additional or emotional needs. Additionally, I am a very outdoors and social person, and willing to try anything, so I think that above all I would be good company in any given situation.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): What appeals to me most about PA work specifically, is the opportunity to meet and build a bond with an individual. I am a people person and I love to make people smile and this is a fantastic way to do that. This role is an incredibly personal job, and it gives you the chance to deeply understand someone and their own personality, needs and emotions. I think I could make an impact in someones life and make them happy.

What are your hobbies/interests? (required): My first passion is really music, I have played the drums for over 15 years and can also play a bit of the guitar and piano. I love all genres of music and everything about it and I am currently developing a companion website for musicians in my spare time. Aside from this I am a Cardiff City fan, so I often go to football and rugby games and I enjoy most every sport really. I also like video games as well as chess and other board games, and I love films.
