From a young age, I was part of a subgroup in my school where our main focus was autism visibility. As well as this, I have experience with being a teaching assistant in both of my previous primary and secondary school, and I am happy to discuss this in further detail during an interview. Lastly, I have personal experience with young family members like nephewsWhat qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): patience and empathy are really important, discreption is also essential as some individuals may not feel comfortable opening up ( especially if it is a new person to them) I am also adaptable meaning I am open to develop new skills suitable for my new role so I can do the best role I can doHow do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I believe I can contribute to a disabled person’s needs by offering full security, respectful, and person-centred support. I’d focus on helping with day-to-day tasks as well as interacting with them during fun activities / help with homework. I’m patient and attentive, so I’d always be on my five senses so no lives are at risk- once I enter the house it is my full resposibility to make sure everything and everyone is safe. My goal would be to make things easier while encouraging confidence and as much independence as possible.What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): It appeals to me because I’d love to support someone in a way that genuinely impacts their everyday life. I like the idea of helping someone maintain and even build their independence and confidence, while creating a positive, trusting relationship. I’ve also had personal experience supporting someone with a disability, which has given me a deeper understanding of how important empathy, patience, and consistency are. Alongside that, studying psychology has helped me understand behaviour, emotions, and communication, which I think really helps when supporting someone one-to-one. I’m drawn to roles that feel meaningful and personal, and I really value being able to make a difference in someone’s day-to-day life.What are your hobbies/interests? (required): Learning new cultures, poetry and music. I am very passionate about these things mainly since I hold two different cultures.
